Locating the Particle Illusion diagnostic log

The PI.log file (or “log file”) is a diagnostic file that logs technical information when Particle Illusion is running. This information is essential for helping us to debug issues, and will be the first thing that our support team will ask you for (if you are using one of the paid versions of Particle Illusion that include support).

Note that this file does not contain usage data, but may contain filenames of library emitters or project files, and/or the full path to those files. This type of data will be tagged with the string “(CUSTOMER DATA)” in the log file, so you can easily find it and review/edit those lines if they contain sensitive information.

The easiest way to view the PI.log file is from the Help menu when PI is open: select “Help - View Log File”.
