Floating License System Requirements

Boris FX uses RLM (Reprise License Manager) for our floating licenses. It is a client/server system; the server is a daemon process running on a machine at the customer's site which is set up to serve licenses to client machines, which are also at the customer's site. The client machines ask the server for a license to use the software by checking it out from the server, and when done they check it back in. The Boris FX license is locked to the server's machine ID, usually the main Ethernet MAC Address. No configuration is required on the client machines as long as they can contact (ping/telnet) the server.

Client Requirements

Any machine that can run a Boris FX Product (e.g. Continuum, Mocha Pro, Sapphire, and/or Silhouette) can support the floating license client license. No additional installation or configuration is necessary on the clients except to install the client license file to tell it what server to contact for its licenses.
