Silhouette displays a question mark icon in the Viewer when the paint data cannot be found on disk. This occurs when Silhouette is unable to access the stored paint frames associated with the Paint node.
Cause of missing paint strokes in Silhouette
Silhouette paint nodes store paint data as files on disk inside the project structure.
The question mark appears when:
The paint frames cannot be located
The paint folder is missing or inaccessible
The stored paint data is unavailable to Silhouette
Location of paint data in Silhouette
Silhouette stores paint data in a paint subfolder within the project folder.
If this folder is:
Moved
Deleted
Not accessible
Not writable
Located on a full disk
Silhouette will not be able to load the paint frames, resulting in the question mark icon.
How to resolve missing paint strokes in Silhouette
Silhouette users can resolve this issue by restoring access to the paint data.
Check the following:
Ensure the paint subfolder exists in the project directory
Verify the folder has not been moved or deleted
Confirm the folder is readable and writable
Check that the disk is not full
Restore the original file path if the project was relocated
Restoring access to the paint data will allow Silhouette to display paint strokes correctly in the Viewer.
